Kochi, June 13 - The National Investigation Agency, probing the case relating to the chopping off the hand of a college lecturer in Kerala July last year has arrested one more accused in the case.Naushad, arrested from nearby Aluva yesterday, was produced before CBI Special Judge S Vijay Kumar today and remanded to five days NIA custody.This is the first arrest after the NIA began probing the case. Naushad has been accused of aiding the main accused in the crime.NIA, which has already filed chargesheet in the case, had taken over the investigation from local police which had listed 54 accused in the case of which 27 were chargesheeted and 27 others are absconding

Kochi: A Special Court on Wednesday(27th April) allowed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to conduct further investigation of the financial aid provided by certain Muslim organisations based in other States to the absconding accused in a case relating to the attack on T.J. Joseph, teacher of Newman College, Thodupuzha.The court issued the directive on a petition filed by the NIA seeking permission to conduct a probe into the suspected involvement of some of the organisations based in Chennai, Thirunelveli, and Hyderabad.GCIC demands justice for Christians and reposes hope in NIA to bring to justice the Islamic terrorists involved in the chopping of Prof. Joseph's hand and assault of his sister and mother
In its petition, the NIA said that some of these organisations were suspected to have provided assistance and shelter to 27 accused who had been absconding. read more »
08 Apr 2011. Kochi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted the first information report (FIR) in the lecturer attack case. The NIA report has named 54 people as accused. The NIA took over the case on March 9 from the Moovatupuzha(KERALA) police which registered the case. Earlier too, 54 persons were named as accused.T J Joseph of Newman college in Thodupuzha was attacked on July 4 when he was returning with his family members near his home in Muvattupuzha. read more »

Before the report, 'Hindu group involved in Orissa, Karnataka blasts',
appeared in this paper on March 24, little had been written or spoken
about the possible connection of 'Hindu terror' with attacks on
Christians. Now, hopefully, some attention will be given to the role
of the Hindu extremist grou p Abhinav Bharat in several attacks on the
Christian community in the country as stated by the military
investigator's report. The cases being handed over to National
Investigation Agency will hopefully bring out this aspect more clearly
