An Open Letter to President Obama

Mr. President, the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), condemns the proposed UN Defamation of Religions Resolution, scheduled to come up at the UN General Assembly in New York City late this fall, in unequivocal terms, and appeals to your good self to use your good offices as President of the US, the most influential nation in the world, to intervene and save the world from the scourge of impending disaster and curse of this retrograde measure with its far reaching and dangerous implications for the entire world. The fact that you are one of the rare US Presidents with a special admiration for the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, who incessantly fought for religious freedom in our country throughout his life and finally laid down his life for the very cause, gives us immense joy and confidence that you would certainly hearken our distress call and leave no stone unturned in preventing such a draconian piece of legislation.
