50 people killed in Easter Sunday bombings in AG church Nigeria Abuja,

At least 50 people were killed when explosives concealed in two cars went off near a church during Easter Sunday services in the northern Nigerian city of Kaduna, eye-witnesses said.

Security personnel inspect the mangled remains of bomb-laden car that exploded Sunday, April 8, 2012 along junction Road in northern Nigerian cty of Kaduna, killing at least 50 people, most of them commercial motorcyclists near a church, according to a rescue official.Shehu Sani, the President of Civil Rights Congress based in Kaduna, said two explosions took place at the Assemblies of God's Church near the centre of the city with a large Christian population and known as a major cultural and economic centre in Nigeria's north.  read more »

Hundreds massacred in Nigeria by Islamic attackers

ABUJA, Nigeria — More than 100 people have been killed in a series of attacks in northern Nigeria’s largest city, officials said Saturday, in what appears to be the deadliest strike yet by a radical Islamist group.The Islamic attackers in Kano on Friday evening struck eight government security buildings, the national police said, including the regional police headquarters, two local police stations, the local headquarters of the State Security Service, the home of a police official and the state police command headquarters.The radical sect Boko Haram, which has carried out an escalating campaign of violence in its battle to impose its version of Islamic law across Nigeria, claimed responsibility.  read more »
