Sub: GCIC’s Response to VHP Leader, Pravin Togadia’s Recent Inflammatory Speech-VHP’s International General Secretary, Pravin Togadia, on Monday called for a new Indian Constitution that allows for “anyone who converts Hindus to be beheaded.”
Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), perceives this as an attempt to 'Talibanise' India to perpetuate graded inequality. Will Togadia endorse the same beheading for conversion by Hindu new-age god-men and women, people from other faiths? These irresponsible illogical statements in a country like ours, with their own implications deserve to be condemned by all citizens of India who believe in social harmony and stability and success of our democracy and an overall development of our country. Recent observation by the Supreme Court of India that public men should be very careful while making statements regarding religions and religious beliefs should be taken note by people like Togadia when they open their mouths and start talking, if they believe in democracy and co-existence. As opposed to such irresponsible statements by people like Togadia, the observations made by the President of India recently are indeed very heartening to all and sundry.  read more »
