Fact Finding Team of GCIC to Karimnagar District on 26th September 2011

• Dr. Sam Paul, National Secretary, Human Rights & Public Affairs,GCIC
• Lion Rayappan, Prominent Catholic Laity Leader
• Pastor Kiran Paul, Pastor of Hyderabad and associate of GCIC

• The agenda of the team was to:
• Meet the District Superintendent of the Police (SP)
• Meet the families of those arrested and are in Jail currently
• Meet those 8 persons arrested and in Jail
• Meet the Lawyer who is handling the case
III. The Team had a good meeting with the SP of the District Mr. Ravinder. He was cordial and told that no crime of any kind will escape the law. The team submitted,
• That the case filed against these 8 is communally motivated and not true and it is a false case, hence a re-investigation be done. He has agreed to this request.
• The families of the vicitms live in fear with teenage children as a mob attacked the pastors during the time of complaint. The four members of the team that were arrested that hail from the District of Karimnagar be provided with police protection until they feel secure. He has seen the need for this and said that will be arranged immediately.
• The district should be taking preventive measures in the future not to see this kind of communally motivated false cases booked. This pertains to the Point No: 13 in the PM’ 15 point program for the welfare of Minorities.

• The families of those arrested are as follows: The team had a time of fellowship with the following discussing their well being and encouraging them that there is a UNIVERSAL Church that will pray for them and that they should stand firm in their walk in the faith.  read more »
