Humnabad, Bidar district: Pastor Vasanth D (45) had organized a prayer meeting from 13th to 15th December 2009 at Gatabaro, Humnabad, Bidar district, Karnataka.

On 15th December 2009, the meeting ended at 6.00pm. After the believers left, Sub-Inspector of the Basavakalyan Rural Police Station arrived at the Venue and took Pastor Vasanth D to the Station. The Police questioned pastor about a case that occurred on 17th November 2009, where a church in Bidar district was vandalized by unknown culprits.

On 17th November 2009, the Beersheba Church of God in Humanabad, Bidar district, Karnataka was destroyed at the early hours of the day, at around 3:00am, a radical group barged into the church and destroyed it by smashing the windows and the doors, they even desecrated the Cross placed at the altar, leaving behind heaps of debris. Pastor Devadas Chandrapa (32) the minister of the Beersheba Church along with Pastor Vasanth filed a compliant at the Humanabad Police.

The Basavakalyan Rural Police have falsely accused Pastor Vasanth of being involved in the church destruction and have obtained witnesses to falsely testify against him. Pastor is charged under session 295; 120/B and is detained at the Basavakalyan jail.

On 17th December 2009, he was summoned to be present at the Humanabad court, as the case is in process.
