Miscreants from Ladakh Buddhist Association brutally attacked two Christians for their faith in Jesus on 1 September in Leh.
At about 6 p.m. a visually impaired Christian, Ram Kumar Thapa also known as Solomon Rai and a team from New Delhi were distributing relief materials to the Flash Food victims in Leh when about 8 people from Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) got hold of Rai, started beating him, dragged him and threw him inside their vehicle.
"I pleaded to them to forgive me for whatever wrong I might have done and to spare my life but they continue to beat me up and placed a gunny sack back with a rope on my lap and explained that this would be my last bed before they throw me into the Indus river and see if a blind man can swim and save himself." reported Thapa. "They ordered me to leave Ladakh or face dire consequences." he added.
At around mid-night, the assailants threw him out to the road. By this time, the Christian sustained bruises all over his body and his eyes were bleeding.
The miscreants took Thapa’s mobile phone and continued to beat him and took him to one place where another Christian, Stanzin Chospel, was also being beaten up.
A convert Christian, Stanzin Chospel and his pregnant wife were abducted on the same night at about 9:30 p.m by about 15 miscreants and were taken to the Ladakh Buddhist Association office at Soma Gompa, Leh town.
The attackers started beating the Christian with rubber pipes and rods in the presence of his wife. "My wife begs them to stop but they did not pay any heed to her plea. In between they brought in another Christian, Solomon Rai, to show me what they had done to him. He was bleeding in the eyes and swollen in the face" reported Chospel.
The miscreants ordered Chospel to renounce his faith in Christ and to return to Buddhism. The extremists further threatened that if he failed to comply with their demands, they will kill him and his wife.
With the help of Christian leaders, police registered a First Information Report against the attackers in both the incidents. No arrests had been made at press time
