Hosanagara - Shimoga Dt.(Karnataka): Pastor Abraham K.G.(28), had been a resident of Hosanagara in Shimoga district, for more than 18 years, and he has been carrying on with his ministry at his House Church, Jehovah Nizzi Prayer Hall, during the last 8 months, without any problem, whatsoever. He is living a quiet life with his wife, Reshma (25), and a child Aaran (2). He has about 50 believers as members of his church.

But on Sunday March 27, things changed for the worse, as a VHP leader, Subbraya Shetty came to his church and threatened him and his believers that they may have to stop their prayer services, close down their church and leave the village for good.
Exactly a week later on Sunday 3rd April, when the service was about to commence at about 10.30 a.m., Sub Inspector Devaraj from Hosanagara police station, came in a jeep with 3 constables, and arrested Pastor Abraham and a believer, Eerappa (54), without any rhyme or reason. When pastor’s mother asked why her son was being arrested, the S.I’s reply to her was some filthy abusive language with a threat to her that her husband, who is a state government employee, would also lose his job, if she persisted on her arrogant behaviour. We understand that the police also carried away a two wheeler belonging to the pastor, and found some loop-hole to file a case on some defect in the vehicle.
They were detained in the police station till late into the evening and were released only after the GCIC got in touch with the Shimoga S.P and briefed him about the whole incident. It is also learnt that before they were released in the evening, the police took an undertaking from them in writing that they must stop their prayer services and vacate the house at the earliest.
