I Ashok Kumar Ray aged about 45 years, S/o- Late Kali Charan Ray, Religion-Hindu, Caste-Karan, Vill- Nedipadar, Po- Phiringia, and Ps/Block/Tahasil- Phiringia, Dist- Kandhamal. I am the victim during the Kandhamal riot took place in the year 2008in Kandhamal district of Odisha. I had a residential house and residing with my family consisting 05 members. During the said communal riot my house and household articles were completely burnt and damaged by the rioters. Therefore, I have lodged FIR in Phiringia Police station. During the Govt. house damage survey my house was placed fully in the Govt. list. But the district administration was not ready to give me the house damaged compensation , rather they were telling me your house was wrongly mention in the Govt. list. At that time I was struggling for my livelihood and came to know that one Legal Aid centre named JPDC was helping to the riot victims.

I went there and explained my difficulties then the Advocates of the Legal Aid centre assured me that we will assist you fight for justice. After that one case was filed in Honble High Court of Odisha, Cuttack WP(C) No -12872/2010 by the JPDC team and the said court gave direction to the Dist.Collector of Kandhamal consider the matter within 42days and compensate to the victim immediately. By the intervention of JPDC Legal Aid Centre I got the compensation Rs. 50000.00 ( fifty thousand) & justice. Now I am very happy and thank a lot to JPDC team.
