GCIC welcomes The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (Amendment) Bill, 2010

The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (Amendment) Bill, 2010, which had earlier been passed by the Lok Sabha, was passed by the Rajya Sabha on5th August

The Rajya Sabha amended the national commission for minorities educational institutions act empowering the centre to decide status of such institutions without consulting states.

A clause in the original act of 2004 defines a minority educational institution as a college or an institution other than a university established or maintained by a person or group of persons from amongst the minorities.

GCIC welcomes this Bill as in the BJP ruled states, which are not favorable to Minority Institutions this Bill will protect Minority Institutions form State Government Interference
