About 20-25 anti Gospel activists barged into the residence of a believer, Sister Sheela , in Boothanhalli Kaval ,near S. Bidra village in Chickmagalur on Friday evening at 7.30pm 15thOctober, 2010, when Pastor Surendra(31yrs) from Calvary AG Church was conducting a cottage prayer service.
The radicals threatened them with dire consequences if they persisted with their prayer services in the future. They also clicked some photographs, snatched pastor’s mobile, damaged motor cycle used by the pastor and dragged him to the street and telephonically contacted the Sakarayanapatana police station. Pastor was physically abused, thrashed thoroughly by the radicals causing severe lacerations and bruises . Police contingent from Sakarayanapatna police station under Principal Sub Inspector of police Mr Madavaih , arrived at about 9pm arrested pastor Surendra and took possession of the motor cycle and pastors personal belongings.
On receipt the information Global council of Indian Christians(GCIC) deputed lawyer Gopinath to extend legal assistance to the Pastor Surendra who was detained in the police station on the false complaint of alleged conversions. GCIC contacted senior police officers and the superintend of police(SP) Dr Saratchandra for release of the pastor and he readily agreed to prevail upon the concerned persons.
Dr. Saratchandra contacted the accusers ,Pastor Surendra,GCIC lawyer and held extended discussion . Meanwhile , Pastor Surendra informed that he has forgiven the attackers and at about 12.30am pastor Surendra was released and send home without any charges.
Pastor surendra is being treated as an out patient in Chuickmaglur Government hospital. Please pray for Pastor Surendra and believers in Karnataka
