Wed, 24/10/2007 - 9:03am Pastor trashed in Maharshra hospitalised with broken rib

Pastor Victor Periera was beten up in Vikramgadh taluka, Thane
District, Maharashtra on Tuesday October 23rd by villagers who were
upset with him for organising prayer meetigs beng attended by Hindu
Tribals.

Pastor Periera was conducting a healing service when Hindu radical
elements came in two trucks and barged into the Church.

The lumpen elements began thrashing the people who were attending the
service and cursed them in filthy language.

The rabid mob of Hindu extremists were accompanied by some villagers
who were angry with the pastor for holding regular prayer service
which was attended by hindu tribal villagers.

The pasor was initially admitted to teh government hospital in
Vikramgadh and later shifted to a private clinic in Vasai
The police have nabbed 6 members of the group involved in the assault and a case booked under IPC 134
