It is the third anti-Christian incident in the state in 2012. Ultra-nationalist RSS (Rashtriya Sangh Savayansevak) have beaten, stripped and dragged the pastor in front of the whole village. Other incidents in Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir. The Pentecostal pastor of the Agape Church has lost a finger. A man and a woman seriously injured in the leg and head. Hindu nationalists raided a private home. Minorities Commission team grills victims of communal attack

A member of the Karnataka State Minorities Commission said on Friday that Christians who were attacked while having dinner on Christmas night last year in Surathkal should not complain if they “knew the teachings of Christ”.

Chairperson of the Karnataka State Minorities Commission Anwar Manippady and members Dony D’Souza and Padma Jain held a hearing and took statements from the group of Christians at Surathkal on Friday, after the commission received two complaints about the assaults on them on December 25, 2011.  read more »

Sri Ram Sene activists held for hoisting Pakistan flag in Karnataka


The Karnataka police have arrested six persons belonging to the right-wing outfit Sri Ram Sene for hoisting Pakistan’s national flag on a government building in Bijapur district.

The youths had allegedly hoisted the flag over the tehsildar’s office in Sindgi town on January 1 leading to angry protests by Hindu organisations in the district. A bandh call was issued by various organisations, including Sri Rama Sene and Bajrang Dal in protest against the flag hoisting. Superintendent of police DC Rajappa called the incident a conspiracy by the Sri Rama Sene to create communal disharmony in Sindgi, which has a sizeable Muslim population.  read more »
