Rameswaram (TN) May 28 (PTI) A Christian prayer hall, allegedly built in violation of government rules, was today demolished by revenue department at Dhanushkodi area near here, officials said. The government had banned new constructions after tidal waves lashed the area in 1964. Pr Joshi is pasturing the church and has about 600 families.
Besides, strict rules banning construction near the sea was enforced after the 2004 Tsunami, they said. A church official is being questioned in connection with the construction, they said.

BANGALORE: A day after a firing incident in the ashram of spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, police on Monday termed it as an "incident" and said it was not a "targeted attack" on him. The security of 54-year-old Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the founder of Art of Living (AOL), has been beefed up, they said.
“I do not call it an attack. It is an incident. Whether it was meant at a person or not, we cannot say at the moment", Karnataka DGP Ajaikumar Singh, who visited the ashram, told reporters here. read more »
RSS threatens to shut Sunday Worship in Hassan district
RSS group alleged Pastor for forced conversion activities on 27th May 2010 at Rajanpura village, Hassan district.
RSS leader Mr. Manjunath Shastry and the group of 20 people barged into Pastor Siddanagowda Barmanagowda’s house and alleged of forced conversion activities and complained to Hiriseve Police Station. The radicals threatened the pastor with dire consequences if he continues to conduct worship service. Pastor was taken to the police station and warned him not hold any prayer and asked him to move away from this place.
Pastor H B Siddanagowda Barmanagowda (45) is a native of Bevanahalli village, Davangere district is ministering under Karnataka Evangelical Association (KEA) since one year. Pastor is married Shantamma (40) and are blessed with two sons Madhusudan (21) and Harish Gowda (19).
