Nigerian Islamofacists attack church services kills around 20

KANO, Nigeria — Attackers armed with bombs and guns opened fire at church services at a Nigerian university on Sunday, killing around 20 people as worshippers tried to flee, witnesses and officials said.
Explosions and gunfire rocked Bayero University in the northern city of Kano, with witnesses reporting that two church services were targeted as they were being held on campus.  read more »

50 Afghan schoolgirls poisoned in anti-education attack

About 150 Afghan schoolgirls were poisoned on Tuesday after drinking contaminated water at a high school in the country's north, officials said, blaming it on conservative radicals opposed to female education.

At least 50 people were killed when explosives concealed in two cars went off near a church during Easter Sunday services in the northern Nigerian city of Kaduna, eye-witnesses said.

Security personnel inspect the mangled remains of bomb-laden car that exploded Sunday, April 8, 2012 along junction Road in northern Nigerian cty of Kaduna, killing at least 50 people, most of them commercial motorcyclists near a church, according to a rescue official.Shehu Sani, the President of Civil Rights Congress based in Kaduna, said two explosions took place at the Assemblies of God's Church near the centre of the city with a large Christian population and known as a major cultural and economic centre in Nigeria's north.  read more »

NIA held one more militant in professor hand chopping case

Kochi: One more person has been arrested in the Newman College professor T J Joseph hand chopping case on Friday. Tamar Ashraf from Thodupuzha, under the directive of the NIA, was arrested by the police on Thursday night. The accused, who was staying in Arab Nations, was arrested after he was made to land in his native place with the help of Interpol.There are indications the persons involved in the hand chopping also funded Mumbai blast  read more »
