
Religious fanatics believed to be members of sangh Parivar (Hindutva fanatics) attacked pastor Umesh Nayak from calvary Bethel Church during the Good Friday worship on 22nd April at Nandi Tavere village,Harihar Taluk in Davengere district.
While the worship service was in progress, at about 11am a group consisting of anti gospel activists forced into the prayer hall and disrupted the worship service.The belligerent activists snatched bibles from the 30 christian believers and torn them.Not satisfied with the attacks the perpetrators locked up the Pastor umesh,Pramod,Annappa,Shekar,muthu,vinod and Laxman ,denying them even water.The matter was brought to the notice of Global council of Indian Christians(GCIC) and GCIC contacted Malai Bennur Police station.A team under Police SI Linge Gowda released Pastor Umesh Nayak and others .The released Pastor and believers were taken to Malai Bennur Police station.After completion of the routine inquiries and on persuasion of GCIC Pastor Umesh nayak and Believers were released at about 4.30pm.Praise God .
