GCIC Pray for the Bereaved and Suffering in Sikkim

The Global Council of Indian Christians held a day conference at the Centenary Baptist Church, Clock Tower, Secunderabad. The meeting had gathered the key Christian leaders from around the Twin cities and the neighboring districts for the conference.

The theme of the conference was fellowship with the Persecuted. To pray and express solidarity to the victims of persecution the day conference was held. Over 260 Christian leaders participated from all around Andhra Pradesh.

The following key denominations were represented, Catholic Church, Baptist Churches, Independent Churches, Pentecostal Churches, Methodist, Luthern Church and other major denominations
The members of the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), assembled at Secunderabad on 22-09-2011, solemnly resolve to pray to God to grant the necessary strength and courage to the bereaved and suffering people in Sikkim and other areas in North India tragically affected by the recent devastating earthquake that killed more than a hundred people, and destroyed buildings, crops, properties, residences and business establishments, impoverishing a large number of people.

The GCIC, while condoling the deaths of such unfortunate people, expresses its sorrow and sympathy to the members of the bereaved families and also wishes to join hands with them in alleviating their suffering by extending them their help, in cash and kind.

The GCIC also calls upon all schools, colleges, socio-economic and religious organizations, NGOs and such other voluntary bodies, to come forward to lessen the suffering of these unfortunate citizens of our country, to whatever caste, creed, or religion they may belong.

The pain,suffering,uncertainity and agony which is being experienced by the unfortunate victims as a result of natural calamity also should be felt by the rest of the fellow citizens of the country.
