Christian beaten up in Madhya Pradesh by Bajrang Dal & Dharam Sena Activists

Madhya Pradesh (Jabalpur): Bro. Devanand Dandale (28), was distributing Christian Tracts and sharing the gospel message with the residents of Damoh Naka at Jabalpur on 26-12-2010, Sunday afternoon at about 3.00 p.m., when some Bajrang Dal & Dharam Sena activists caught hold of him and took him to their office where they forcibly took his mobile phone and the money purse with a little over four thousand rupees in it. They also telephoned to their friends and gathered about 20 activists. They also questioned him as to how much money he was getting and who was his boss and from where they were operating etc.

We also understand that they kept on telephoning to all the numbers saved in his mobile and told whoever picked-up the call, that the mobile was lost and found by them, and that they wanted to return it its owner. The idea was a trap, so that they could also tackle whoever came for the mobile, responding to their call. When they found nobody turning up, they began terrorizing Bro. Devanand, with their “cat and mouse game” with him, kicking him and slapped him by turns, one after the other, and also kept on pulling his hair repeatedly, in the midst of his desperate pleas to set him free. Some of them, we understand, also used hockey sticks to beat him at his back and the legs. All the time the jeering and the booing went on, more as a Sunday free fun- show, for all those who had gathered there. This went on for more than two hours, after which they took him to the Kotwali Police Station, situated about 5 KMs away from the Jabalpur Railway Station.
On their way to the police Station, the media people also appeared, and took down the report of the incident as narrated to them by the activists, which was published in the front pages of the newspapers with his photographs the next day, that a Christian Missionary who has changed his religion from Hinduism, is now converting people to Christianity. In the meanwhile, the people who had taken his money purse disappeared from the scene. The money, we understand, was borrowed from some friends in order to have some ready cash with him to meet the expenses of his pregnant wife, who is due for delivery any time within the next month.
The police scolded the activists for their misbehavior and returned his mobile to him. Regarding money, they simply denied and said that they had nothing to do with his money. The police then asked Bro. Devanand to file his complaint against whoever had manhandled him, which he did accordingly against the following Bajrang Dal and Dharam Sena activists - Amit Tiwari, Sunil Sonkar, Ambasingh Thakur, Surendra Jainand Babu Tiwari, after which he was sent home at 9 p.m. As Bro. Devanand is very much hurt all over his body and his legs are swollen very badly, we understand that he is finding it quite difficult even to walk.
Bro.Devanand, originally hailing from Amaravati, in Maharashtra, is settled down in Jabalpur, (M.P). and is serving the Lord through Inter Collegiate Prayer Fellowship, an organization based in Jabalpur. His wife is Mrs. Geeta D. Dandale, (24), and they have one child, a son, named Joy Dandale, (18 months old). Brother Devanand says that he is praying for the persecutors, so that they too one day would come to know Christ and that the Good Lord would also give him more
