Thu, 16/10/2008 - 8:06pm Karnataka chief -modern Nero

New Delhi, Oct 16 (PTI) Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda today criticised Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa's speech delivered during the National Integration Council meeting alleging he tried to deflect the attention from communal violence in the state to the issue terrorism.
Gowda in a statement said "Yeddyurappa has sought to deflect the attention from the barbaric violence unleashed by Sangh Parivar outfits and state-sponsored human rights abuse of the worst order by highlighting the menace of terrorism".

He termed Yeddyurappa's speech as "one of the most insensitive... And mischievious document... In recent times".

The JD(S) chief said if "the Chief Minister wishes to come clean on the issue, he should order a thorough probe into the anti-Christian violence by a sitting judge of the High Court, pay adequate compensation to affected families and institutions and take urgent steps to bring to book the guilty including police and administration officials for their acts of omission and commission".

Reacting to the Centre's decision to send advisories to Karnataka government under Article 355, Gowda said "the Centre should have without any delay dismissed the BJP government in the state under Article 356 due to the "total breakdown" of the state machinery rather than resorting to "piecemeal approach such as issuing notices".

Referring to Yeddyurappa's NIC speech last week, Gowda said "the double standards of the CM was also exposed when in the same breath (in his speech) he attributes 'disharmony and social tensions' to alleged conversion activities carried out by some Christian groups and seeks to justify the violence in the process...."

Fri, 17/10/2008 - 8:51pm Karnataka Chief Minister

Karnataka Chief minister is not only a "Modern Nero" But is also suffering from Selective "AMNESIA".Times of India's 15th Oct 2008 edition reports that at a function in Davangere the chief minister Claims that " No CHURCH in Karnataka was attacked".
A CM of a State makes this statement after all the Church Attacks being extensively covered by both the print and Electronic media. On the same day at a CRPF Golden Jubilee function his memory of Church Attack comes back and He Announces plans to ban conversions in the state.
Is this the Forum for this topic or is he saffroning the CRPF
There is no doubt that Mr Yediurappa is suffering from "AMNESIA" since he first claimed that VHP/Bajarang Dal did not carry out the attacks and now inspite of all his visits to various churches along with his Home minister he has forgotten the Attacks.
God Help Karnataka under a Modern Nero.

Wed, 08/10/2008 - 12:13pm List of Places attacked by Bajrang Dal in Karnataka

Mon Oct 6, 2008 9:56 pm

Bajrang Dal people claim that they have only attacked New Life Fellow
Ship Centers in Karnataka giving the reason that they are involved
into forcible conversions. But they have attacked number of Roman
Catholic and protestant churches and their prayer centers. Irony is
that there is not even a single complaint lodged for forcible
conversion all over India. Also there are several reports of forcible
reconversion to Hinduism in Orissa and other parts of the nation.

In fact at the beginning Bajrang Dal people openly claimed
responsibility for the attacks. Later on they changed their statement
and said all attacked places belongs to New Life Fellowship only. But
now slowly they change their statement once again saying that they are
not behind these attacks. May be they are now frightened that the
group will be named as terrorist and banned.

The list of places that were attacked by them on 14th September 2008

Tue, 30/09/2008 - 9:48pm Hindus in Malayasia protest

Hindus in Malaysia protest costlier burials
- Kuala Lumpur: A section of Hindus in Malaysia who bury their dead have protested the sharp rise in fees for burial plots at a cemetery in Penang state.

A group of 12 Hindu NGOs submitted a memorandum to the state government complaining that the Hindu community had been left in a quandary after the Penang Hindu Endowment Board decided to charge RM500 (approx. $22) for plots at the Batu Lanchang Hindu cemetery in George Town.

To compound matters, the board also decided to impose renewal fees of RM5,000 ($2,200), to be paid after 10 years.

State legislator R.S.N. Rayer said he was informed by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng that an amicable solution would be sought. He said the matter would be raised at next week's state executive council meeting.

Hindu Action Network executive council member N. Ahilan said the board reserved the right to exhume the remains and lease the plot to others if the renewal fees were not paid within 10 years.

He said that the exorbitant charges and conditions were "inconsiderate", The New Straits Times reported Monday.

Malaysia has an ethnic Indian population of an estimated 2.6 million, a bulk of it Tamil Hindus who came here during the British era. They form nearly eight percent of the country's 28 million population

Sun, 28/09/2008 - 8:22pm Former Prime Minister Gowda refutes charges of forced conversion

Speaking to journalists at the end of a dharna in front of Rajghat, the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi, Mr. Deve Gowda, former Prime Minister said he had written to the Prime Minister detailing the atrocities being committed against the minorities in Karnataka and requesting him to impose President’s Rule in the State. “There was no response. The Prime Minister is busy with the nuclear deal. He is not paying attention to the situation.”

The dharna, he said, was to draw attention of the Central government and the world community. He wanted the Centre to impose President’s rule and ban the Bajrang Dal and Ram Sena, which were allegedly behind the attacks.

Mr. Gowda also criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party for not expressing any concern over the situation and pointed out that it had, instead, adopted a resolution at the recent meeting of its national executive in Bangalore declaring that Hindutva was its main agenda.

Complaining that the Leader of the Opposition and BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate L.K. Advani was merely issuing certificates of appreciation to the Karnataka government, he said, “My apprehensions are coming true. Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has lived up to his promise that he would implement the Gujarat model in the State.”

He refuted the reasoning that attacks on churches were a reaction to the conversion of some Hindus to Christianity and stressed that not even a single conversion had taken place. “Let the State government set up a judicial commission. The truth will come out.”
