Pakistan: Christian women manhandled, pressure over land and daily persecution


Islamabad: May 20, 2011. (Xavier William, Modern Tokyo Times) Pakistan, two more shocking cases have surfaced in Punjab which is the hub of extremism and hatred towards the Christian community. Two Christian women, Nusrat Bibi and Muneeran Bibi, are female sanitary workers at the Fatima Memorial Hospital in Lahore, Pakistan.A source from the Fatima Memorial hospital said that Nusrat Bibi and Muneeran Bibi were assaulted and unlawfully detained for several hours by a Muslim officer at the medical facility.

Indian Christians Protest against Blasphemy law in Indo-Pak boarder

AMRITSAR: Hundreds of Indian Christians assembled at Indo-Pak international border at Attari on Saturday to demonstrate against the death sentence awarded to Aasia Bibi, a Pakistani Christian, for committing blasphemy.

The activists of Christian Front Punjab (CFP) from various parts of Punjab asked the Pakistani government to revoke its orders of capital punishment awarded to Aasia Bibi. They also urged the international community to press upon the Pakistan government to scrap its blasphemy law. The protesters said that the blasphemy law in Pakistan was misused to settle personal scores.  read more »
