Christmas Crib Burnt Down by Hindu Radicals in Karnataka.

Bantwal- Mangalore (Karnataka): A group of thirty Christian believers at Maripalla, Thumbe Dharkas Village in Bantwal Taluk, put up a Christmas-Tree and a Crib as part of their Christmas celebrations. This is a practice in vogue for centuries among Christians, especially among the Catholics in the coastal belt of South Kanara. It has nothing to do with any conversion work, as it is an age-old practice. However, the Hindu radicals, who just couldn’t tolerate anything Christian, were greatly disturbed by this act of open manifestation of their faith and simply went mad and burnt down the crib during the wee hours of Wednesday, 28th December 2011. Students skip school, work at seed units in Davangere-Karnataka

The number of children in a majority of the schools in Harapanahalli taluk has dwindled signific­antly as students are being increasingly employed by the seed production centres that are mushrooming there.According to a survey conducted by Don Bosco Mission, a non-governmental organization, more than 3,000 children are engaged in seed production units in Harapanahalli taluk alone. Karnataka proposes Gita teaching compulsory and minister wants those oppose to quit India

Karnataka state Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishwanath Hegde Kageri said July 14 that those opposing the Gita teaching should quit India.Kageri said teaching the holy book was necessary to inculcate moral values in students. He made the comment at a function in Kolar, 65 km from Bangalore.
On July 8, he had announced in Bangalore that the government was “open to making Bhagvad Gita teaching compulsory in schools”.  read more »

Justice Somashekar Probe panel ,probing attacks against churches term extended

Bangalore, December 5

Karnataka State Government has extended the term of the Justice B K Somashekhar Commission up to December 31, this year. The commission is probing into attacks on Churches in Dakshina Kannada and other districts of the State.It was set up in September 2008. For the third time the term of the commission has been extended. The committee submitted its interim report in February, 2010. The government has asked the commission to submit the report by December 31.

House Church worship stopped by Police in Karwar, Karnataka.

Ramnagar police sub Inspector Mr. Babu Madhar on 3rd September’10 forcefully entered the house church of Pastor P R Jose and ordered the pastor to stop the service immediately. There were about 40 believers worshiping God during the time of the incident.
The name of the house church is Calvary fellowship prayer centre and is located in Ganeshgudi village in Joida taluk, Karwar district. This church was established about 10 years back.  read more »
