NIA raids Sanatan Sanstha Headquarters

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided the right wing Hindu organization Sanatan Sanstha's headquarters located in North Goa's Ponda on Tuesday night. NIA officials raided the residential as well as official quarters of the ashram at Ramnathi, 30 km from here, of the Sanatan Sanstha, whose members have been charge-sheeted for carrying out blasts in Goa as well as several parts of Maharashtra over the last few years. read more »

Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat has formally initiated a judicial probe into the recent killings of two tribals in Balli village while proposing 12 percent reservation for the community, a State spokesperson said.
Mr. Kamat told the media today that he has cleared the file for the probe besides the State chief secretary writing to chief justice of Bombay High Court to appoint a judge to hold the enquiry as demanded by the agitating tribals. read more »

The Dalai Lama has urged people to turn their backs on the worship of idols and imbibe more compassion and sincerity.
Compassion and genuine sincerity are keys to real happiness, the Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader said Feb. 7.
He was addressing a festival called “Ideas for the New Millennium” in Panaji, the state capital of Goa.
During his address, the Dalai Lama discouraged worshipping idols, telling the audience that idols are nonresponsive. “You interact with a human, and he responds to you,” he said. read more »
The anti social elements vandalized the sacristy and also the statue of Our Lady of Piety in St. Francis Xavier Church,in Marmagao, South Goa. Parish Priest Fr. Frank Pinto said parish youth who were working on decorating the church for Christmas, after fishing their work had slept in the church hall and latched the side door. The break-in happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The Parish Priest found hosts lying on the floor under the tabernacle and the chalice nearby.
