On trial for blasphemy, two Christian brothers murdered in Faisalabad

Rashid Emmanuel and Sajid Masih Emmanuel were shot to death outside the courthouse right after a trial hearing. Both were handcuffed on their way back to prison. Police were going to clear them of the accusations. For days, Muslim religious leaders had incited Muslim faithful against the two, calling for their death.

Bhubaneswar(Orissa), July 19 - At least 132 persons had so far been convicted in different cases related to 2008 communal violence in Orissa's Kandhamal district, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik informed today.
On the involvement of any particular person or organisation, Patnaik, who is also in charge of home department, said 24 activists belonging to Bajrang Dal and VHP were arrested and lodged in ORISSA jails.
Kasargod (Kerala), Jul 17 - Two persons have been taken into custody in connection with the seizure of two country made bombs and a sword recovered from a burial ground in Kasargod district today.
On a tip off, the police raided the site at Thrikkarippur and found, some iron pipes allegedly meant for making bombs, they said, adding the explosives were defused by the bomb squad.
Police had been carrying out raids throughout the state in the wake of chopping off the right hand of a lecturer at Muvattupuzha on July 4, by activists belonging to a Muslim radical outfit, Popular Front of India.
