Karwar: A dispute over the observation of a ‘vrata' (vow) to appease the village deity at Magalawada village in Haliyal taluk resulted in the social boycott of the Christians by Hindus in the tiny village. Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj has taken exception to the remarks of BJP MLA Prahlad Remani regarding Christianity and Christians in India.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, the Governor has said that he was shocked to learn that at the Independence Day function at Khanapur Tahsildar’s office in Belgaum district, Remani made inflammatory and provocative statements against Christianity and Christians.  read more »

Biskesan Pradhan( 47 )a member of Baptist Church was brutally murdered on 27 .08.10. His body was found by the side of a stream inside a forest. Mr. Biskesan Pradhan is from Tiangia , Kotingia. He is a former RSS leader and accepted Jesus Christ as his savior about 3 years back. He is married and has no children. The motive of the murder is unknown.
The Raikia police have taken up the investigation.
